Top Ten Reasons…. Online Learning Disasters

Last summer we explored the Model of a Community of Inquiry as it relates to online learning. The model includes three elements considered essential to an educational transaction: cognitive presence, social presence and teaching presence. Please follow the link to the website for more detailed information.

As a fun assignment I prepared a slide deck titled “10 Ways to Ensure Your Students Hate Online Learning”. Hope you enjoy!

  1. I enjoyed your tongue-in-cheek slideshow Cindy. I’m wondering if we might be able to add it to our e-Community site for online instructors?

After happening upon your blog following your comment on Wes Fryer’s differentiated web access discussion, and am wondering what school board you are with.

I’m thinking that I’ll be back to visit… There are plenty of sensible ideas and resources linked here….

  2. Rodd asked about using this slide show, and the answer is absolutely. There is now a Creative Commons Attribution-Noncommercial-Share Alike 3.0 Unported License on the site.

  3. Neat presentation. I’ve got a few masters, working on the others. I guess ECI831 is a bit different, but most (if not all) of these principles still apply.

  4. Great slideshow Cindy! I am already thinking this would be a neat little project to develop into a video format…not me, I am done with that battle for now, but some young eager undergraduate/masters student!
